These people are the people I owe most for the man that I have become. Some of them have no idea that they influence my life while others know. Some of them have been my mentors, others have been great friends. There are others who have inspired me in the things that they do, corrected me in several areas and overall helped me get better at what I do. For this, I am grateful for everything guys. This world has very few mentors and real men. I fully recommend these men to you. They are men of substance.
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” Steve Jobs’ Stanford Commencement Address
Here is the list of the 8 men.
8. Kris Eeh Baba
He is a signed artiste at 3000 Music. I got the chance to meet him in Eldoret at an event organized by Fun Team, and I have gotten the opportunity to watch him grow to the centre of the gospel industry. I love the fact that he has kept a level head even with his rise. From his song Eeh Baba, Mmh Baba and the recently launched Katikia Yesu that features Jonte, Kris is definitely is definitely an artiste to watch. I pray that God continues to lift him in a greater way in this year. Here is a link to the newest song. I am simply in love with it. Eeroh, tuma salamu kwa watu wa Meru.
7. Bitta Cliff
Officially, I call him Investor. He knows why. I have come to respect his business acumen. He is a man of God. He is the true definition of cool, calm and collected. I do not think that I have ever seen him angry at anyone, or anything. Investor, you are headed for greater things. Soon, when Forbes are doing their list list of Top 40 under 40, you will be on it. Salute.
6. Carlisto Ochieng
A computer expert, musician, almost-family-man, super producer and a dancer. He is responsible for the fact that I am now a rapper, he made my first beat, my producer and is responsible for 99% of the beats I have gone on stage with. He taught me that if someone was to listen to 2 lines of my lyrics, that should get blest. I am indebted to him for his advice time and time again. Ecclectic studios are big and getting bigger still. I am praying that God continues to bless you for your patience. I am waiting to see what God has planned for you.
5. Ben Kiruthi
I haven’t met Ben face to face yet. However, he is the one I look up to in photography. His site is a gem of great photography and he has been guiding me as I start up. He has great words of advice, and does not have a condescending tone. I can remember as he started up in 2010, and it is a privilege to see him come this far. His work leaves you wanting more and more, he has the tenacity required. I am sure that the days are fast closing in, we shall meet up. Kwanza, I have booked a seat kwa wedding. I can’t wait to see who will be doing your photography then.
4. My brothers, Thomas and Micaiah.
These two are the epitome of fun and terror in our house. When i tell people that I do not have a sister, they look shocked. I have two wonderful brothers, who can keep me busy for three consecutive lifetimes. They are a source of joy in my life, I have no idea how I would be if I did not have these two young men in my life. Yes, I want to be an example to them, but they are of a great influence to me as well. I love you guys.
3. Jackton Otieno
He is one of the first people I met in campus in Maseno and he was a leader in our ministry. He always acted like a father during that time, and I cannot think of a day that he was not on hand to point out what I did wrong and also help me get to the right path. I am so thankful for his kind words. I am his business partner now, and the road is getting better and better as we get into this business at Higher Heights Pictures. God bless you.
2. The Musketeers (Lewis, Chris, Alex, Eric)
These are my best friends. If I was to start writing about what they have done for me, it would fill a whole page. Come to think of it, I will write about them very soon. They are my best friends. I know for sure that if I need anything, I can just call them up and they will make sure that I get sorted out. I am praying that God gives me more time with you gentlemen, you are men of power.
Pastor Daniel Wambua.
My father and my pastor at Joy Tabernacle Church, he is the best example of how men should treat their families. He speaks the word, and aims to make sure that he lives the same things in his own life. I have learnt a lot from him, and as he celebrates 25 years of marriage this year, I am proud to be associated with him.
